To the Residents of the Village of Lagrange

It has been a couple of weeks since the last update so I feel it is time to give another. Keep in mind that all the info given here is from the Lorain County Health Department itself and as accurate as possible. Our numbers now are given out by zip code so it includes the Township numbers also. The reason for this is because our numbers have come down so low, they are combined with the Township. Total population for the Village and Township combined is sixty-six hundred. In the last week or seven-day period there were seventeen cases reported in this area. That is below three percent which is wonderful but obviously zero percent would be better. Also, the vaccination rate for this zip code is at sixty-two percent and growing. I will continue to monitor this number also. Please continue to do what you are doing and feel comfortable with and these numbers should come down even more.

I also want to give a huge shout out to Montrose Kia. They put together the Montrose KIA Cares Initiative which involves contacting cities and Villages to invite their First Responders out to lunch to thank them for their service. This was done on October nineteenth at Michelle’s Café and all Village and Township employees were invited along with the Lagrange Police Department, The Lagrange Township Fire Department and Lagrange Township EMS Squad. A special thank you to Council President, Gary Kincannon for putting this all together with Montrose KIA and Michelle’s Café because I was out of town at a conference. He handled this project for me and did a great job!! Obviously, all could not be there so those who could not attend were given a gift card for their lunch. Thank you to all the front-line workers and First Responders for all that you do!!!!

On a different note, as you all know Halloween is this Sunday from 6:00 to 7:30. After you are done trick or treating the Lagrange Fire Department will be serving cider and doughnuts at the Fire station for all. Please come and enjoy. The Lagrange Police Department will be out in full force to keep everyone safe and to all the little ones out there when you see a policeman on Halloween make sure you walk up and say “Trick or Treat” and you might just get that treat!!! Also, I would like to give a quick heads up to everyone that we have in the works a Christmas Parade coming on December twelfth in the afternoon. It will follow the same basic route as the senior parade and we will be collecting canned goods and other food items for the Lagrange Lions Second Harvest Food Bank. Afterwards the parade will end at the Village Hall where there will be crafts for the kids, entertainment and refreshments and hopefully a visit from Santa!!! I will be coming out with more information on this as I have it along with the parade route and exact times. That is all for now I will keep you updated as more information comes in and I hope it is all positive!!!

Stay safe!
