Mayor’s Coronavirus Update: Local Information, April 13th

To the Residents of the Village of Lagrange:

I have sat here for awhile trying to figure out how to give this update.  I’ve come to the conclusion that the only thing to do is to just get it out and explain where we go from here. I received a call from Dave Covell from Lorain County Public Health and he confirmed that there are two cases of COVID 19 in Lagrange Township and one in the Village of Lagrange. All three are in fourteen-day quarantine at home where they will stay until they test negative for three days. I was given no information as to their names or addresses and I didn’t ask, I will tell you that they are all essential workers out there doing their jobs to keep us safe and I hope you keep them in your thoughts and prayers as I will. The good thing is that they are home and not in the hospital and I hope they stay that way so they have a speedy recovery. This is exactly why we have to continue to practice social distancing and go out in public only as needed for supplies, groceries, medications and what ever else we require. I’ve seen many people in town covering their faces as they walk or go into stores not only to protect themselves but also the people around them. Keep up the good work and we will get through this!!!

On a lighter note I was asked to let people know that Our Lady Queen of Peace church at 708 Erie Street in Grafton will be having a food drive pickup this Saturday from 10:00 am to noon. This is being held in the parking lot for the Village of Lagrange and Lagrange Township residents. Please enter from Route 57 by the sign.

I hope you all had an enjoyable Easter Sunday. I looked out my window and saw the Easter Bunny walking around my neighborhood and also up on the square. I don’t know who it was but thank you for making a very different Easter a little more bearable for the children and even some of us adults.

I will conclude this update by saying once again if you know of someone in the Village that needs some help please let us know so that we can help them or point them in the right direction. We have been giving out masks at the Village Hall for people to wear when they go out. We ran out yesterday but I was just told by Mr. and Mrs. Ulupinar that they hope to have some more done on Tuesday.  If anyone needs one please call my cell at 440-355-5309 or Mary Kay Gates at the Village Hall at 440-355-5555 ext. 1.

Thank you for continued social distancing!

Mayor Kim Strauss
